How can we help?

How do my clients grant me access to their Lili business account?

Your clients control whether you can view their Lili business account. To see their dashboard and financial data in the Accountant Portal, they must grant you accountant access from within their own Lili web app and choose which permission level to assign you.

You cannot turn this on yourself. Access is always initiated and managed by the business owner or another authorized user on the account.

When can a client grant me access?

A client can grant you access after:

  1. Their Lili business account has been approved and opened, and
  2. They have been linked to you as their accountant

Once these conditions are met, your client will see an accountant row in their Team section with an option to grant access.

How a client grants accountant access

You can share these steps with your client:

  1. Sign in to the Lili web app using the business account owner credentials or another user with permission to manage team access.
  2. From the left-hand menu, go to the Settings area, then scroll to the Team section.
  3. In the Team list, look for the row labeled Accountant with your name and email address.
  4. Click Grant Access next to your name.
  5. Choose the permission level: Viewer, Bookkeeper, or Bill Payer based on the services you provide.
  6. Review the information about what you can see and do with that role, then confirm.

Accepting the access request

After your client confirms:

  • Lili sends you an email letting you know that the client wants to grant you access to their account.
  • The email includes a link you must click to accept this access request.
  • Once you click the link and sign in (if needed), your accountant access is activated for that business.

What happens when your access is active

When your access is active:

  • Your role on that account is set to the permission level your client chose: Viewer, Bookkeeper, or Bill Payer.
  • The business appears in your Clients tab in the Accountant Portal.
  • You can open the client's dashboard and perform actions based on your assigned role.

The three permission levels

  • Viewer — Read-only access to view and export financial data
  • Bookkeeper — Can categorize transactions, manage bills and invoices, but cannot move money
  • Bill Payer — Can initiate payments that require the client's approval before funds move
