What is the Clients tab in the Lili Accountant Portal?

The Clients tab in the Lili Accountant Portal shows all the business accounts where you currently have active accountant access. This is where you manage your day-to-day work with clients who have granted you permission to view or manage their financial data.

How is this different from Referrals?

  • Referrals tab — Shows everyone you've invited to Lili and their application status (invited, started, approved, or denied)
  • Clients tab — Shows only the businesses you can actively work with inside Lili today

A referred business appears in your Clients tab only when two conditions are met: the account is approved and operational, and the business owner has granted you accountant access through their account's Team settings.

What you see in the Clients tab

For each client, the tab displays:

  • Business name
  • Primary account owner
  • Latest monthly statement with a download option
  • Action shortcuts to view their dashboard or download statements

Your access level varies by client

The permissions you have for each client depend on which accountant role they assigned you when granting access. Clients can choose from three permission levels:

  • Viewer — Read-only access to view and export financial data
  • Bookkeeper — Can categorize transactions, manage bills and invoices, but cannot move money
  • Bill Payer — Can initiate payments that require the client's approval before funds move

You can see transactions and key account information for all clients in your Clients tab, but the actions you can take depend on the specific role each client assigned you.

What you can do from the Clients tab

  • Open the client's dashboard to view their transactions, bills, invoices, and account details
  • Download monthly statements individually or in bulk for multiple clients
  • Perform bookkeeping activities if the client granted you Bookkeeper or Bill Payer access
