How can we help?

Can I duplicate an invoice or save a draft of an invoice?

Yes. You can duplicate existing invoices and save drafts in Lili so your team can move faster, stay consistent, and avoid re‑entering the same information over and over.

When should I duplicate an invoice?

Duplicating an invoice is useful whenever you’re billing for similar work or the same customer more than once.

For example, you might duplicate an invoice when:

  • You invoice the same client every month for a retainer or service package
  • You bill multiple departments or locations using a similar structure
  • You need to reuse the same line items and tax setup but change dates or quantities

Starting from a duplicate keeps your invoices consistent and reduces manual errors, especially as your business and client list grow.

What gets copied when I duplicate an invoice?

When you duplicate an invoice in Lili, we copy the core details so you don’t have to rebuild them.

The duplicate will include:

  • Line items (descriptions, quantities, rates, and tax selection)
  • Payment details you added to the original invoice
  • Your branding (logo, color, and business information)

You should always review and update the invoice number, issue date, and due date before sending the duplicated invoice to avoid confusion or double billing.

How to duplicate an invoice

Mobile App

  • Go to the Main Menu and tap Invoicing
  • Choose the invoice you’d like to reuse
  • Select Duplicate
  • Review and update the details (dates, invoice number, quantities, notes)
  • Save or send the invoice when you’re ready

Web App

  • Go to the Main Menu and click Invoicing
  • Locate the invoice you’d like to reuse in the list
  • On the right side of that invoice row, click the three dots (More actions)
  • Select Duplicate
  • Review and update the details (dates, invoice number, quantities, notes)
  • Save the invoice as a draft or send it when you’re ready

This is a quick way to keep your invoice format consistent while tailoring the details for each new engagement.

Saving and managing invoice drafts

You can save any invoice as a draft if it’s not ready to send yet.

Draft invoices:

  • Do not get emailed to your customer
  • Remain editable until you choose to send them
  • Appear in your Invoicing list with draft status so you can come back later

Saving drafts is especially helpful when you’re waiting on internal approvals, final numbers, or project sign‑off before sending the invoice.

How to save an invoice as a draft

Web App

  • Go to Main Menu > Invoicing
  • Click Create New Invoice
  • Enter at least a client (you must select or add a client before you can save a draft)
  • Click Save as draft at the bottom instead of sending
  • You’ll see the draft in your Invoicing list on web, where you can reopen, edit, and send it later

Mobile App

At this time, saving invoices as drafts is only supported on the Web App.
You can still create and send invoices from mobile, but any drafts must be created and managed on web.

Best practices to avoid confusion or duplicate billing

To keep your records clean and avoid duplicate charges:

  • Update the date and due date to match the current billing period
  • Confirm that any previous invoice you duplicated has already been paid or canceled before sending a new one for the same work

These habits help your customers’ finance teams process your invoices smoothly and reduce back‑and‑forth about which invoice is the “right” one.
