Delegating spend doesn't mean giving up control. Every Team Card comes with guardrails you set once — and Lili enforces them automatically, at the moment of purchase, before any funds move.
What you can control
Configure any combination of the following, either when you issue a card or at any time afterward:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Per-transaction cap | Sets the maximum dollar amount allowed on any single purchase |
| Recurring limit | Sets a daily, weekly, or monthly ceiling on total spend for that card |
| Category rules | Restricts spending to specific merchant categories |
Setting category rules
Category rules work by merchant category, so you decide the boundaries without having to police every purchase:
- Allow list — the card can only be used at merchants in the categories you select.
Supported categories include Advertising, Airlines, Alcohol & Bars, Car Rental, Clothing, Electronics, Food Delivery, Fuel & Gas, Grocery, Taxi & Rideshare, Internet & Telephone, Lodging, Office Supplies, Professional Services, Restaurants, Retail, Software, and Travel, among others.
How enforcement works
When your team member use their card, Lili checks the transaction against every rule you've set — cap, recurring limit, and category — in real time, before the purchase is authorized. If it breaks a rule, it's declined automatically at checkout. There's nothing to review afterward and no funds to claw back.
Updating controls on an existing card
- Go to Cards > Team Cards.
- Select the card you want to update.
- Choose Edit Spending Controls.
- Adjust the per-transaction cap, recurring limit, or category rules.
- Select Save to apply the changes immediately.
Changes take effect right away — your team member doesn't need to do anything on their end.
