How can we help?

How do I get a Bank Letter and/or Voided Check?

Many employers, payroll providers, and payment platforms ask for a bank letter or a voided check to verify your account and routing numbers before they send or pull funds. With Lili, you can generate a Bank Letter directly from the app, and the second page of that letter includes a voided check image for your Lili account.

You can usually provide this Bank Letter (including the voided check image) in place of a physical voided check when a business asks for your account details.

What is a Lili Bank Letter?

Your Lili Bank Letter:

  • Confirms that you have an active Lili account.
  • Lists your Lili routing number and account number.
  • Includes the name on your account and other identifying details.
  • Contains a voided check image on the second page, which many employers and providers accept instead of a physical voided check.

You can use this document when setting up:

  • Direct deposit with an employer or benefits provider.
  • Payroll and HR systems that want proof of your bank account.
  • Payment processors, marketplaces, and vendors that require a bank verification letter or voided check.

How to generate your Bank Letter (with voided check) in the Lili app

You can generate and download your Bank Letter as a PDF.

 From the Lili mobile app:

  1. Sign in to your Lili app.
  2. Open the Main Menu.
  3. Scroll down and select Banking Statements.
  4. Tap Bank Letter.
  5. Choose where to save or share the PDF (for example, email it to yourself, upload it to a payroll portal, or save it to your device).

 From the Lili Web App:

  1. Sign in to your Lili app.
  2. Open the Main Menu.
  3. Scroll down and select Reports & Statements.
  4. Go to Bank Letter in the Banking section, and Click on “Download”.
  5. The PDF will be downloaded to the Downloads folder of your device.

The PDF will include:

  • Page 1: Your bank letter with your account information.
  • Page 2: A voided check image for your Lili account, which can typically be used in place of a physical voided check.

If you don’t see the Bank Letter option, make sure you’re on the latest version of the Lili app and that your account is active.

Sharing your Bank Letter and voided check safely

Your Bank Letter and the attached voided check image contain sensitive information about your Lili account, including your routing and account numbers.

For your security:

  • Only share the PDF with trusted employers, payroll providers, and verified businesses that need this information to pay you or debit your account.
  • Avoid sending it over unsecured channels (such as unencrypted messaging apps or public forums).
  • If you believe your bank letter or voided check image has been shared with someone you did not authorize, contact the Lili team (see options listed in How do I contact the Lili team?) so we can help review your account.

Does Lili provide physical checkbooks or paper voided checks?

Lili is a digital banking experience and currently does not offer physical checkbooks for your account. Instead:

  • Use your Bank Letter with the voided check image whenever an employer or provider requests a voided check to verify your account.
  • If you need to make a payment by check, you can use Lili’s mail‑a‑check service, which sends a check on your behalf directly to your payee (fees and limits apply).

If you’re not sure whether a Bank Letter will be accepted in place of a voided check, check with the employer or provider first. Most modern payroll systems and payment platforms accept a bank verification letter or bank statement as proof of account.
