Do I need a driver's license or passport to apply?

Yes. To apply for a Lili account, you’ll need a valid, government-issued photo ID so we can verify your identity and keep your account secure.

Which IDs can I use?

You can typically use one of the following:

  • U.S. driver’s license
  • U.S. state‑issued ID card
  • U.S. or international passport
  • U.S. permanent resident card or other eligible government‑issued photo ID (where applicable)

All IDs must:

  • Be valid and unexpired
  • Clearly show your full name, photo, and date of birth
  • Match the personal details you enter in your application

We’re not able to accept photocopies, scans, passport cards, partially obscured IDs, or non‑government IDs (such as library or student cards).

When will I be asked for my ID?

You’ll be prompted to capture a photo of your ID during the application flow, after you’ve entered your personal details.
We use this information only to confirm your identity and comply with banking regulations that help keep Lili safe for all customers.

For the smoothest experience, have your ID nearby before you start your application.

Tips for a successful ID photo

To help us verify your ID quickly:

  • Place your ID on a flat surface in a well‑lit area
  • Make sure all four corners of the ID are visible in the frame
  • Avoid glare, blur, or shadows over important details
  • Double‑check that the name and address on your application match your ID (where applicable)

What if I don’t have an eligible ID?

Right now, a valid government photo ID is required to open a Lili account.
If your ID is expired, damaged, or unavailable, you’ll need to update or replace it before applying.

The Lili Visa® Debit Card is issued by Sunrise Banks, N.A., Member FDIC, pursuant to a license from Visa U.S.A., Inc. The Card may be used everywhere Visa debit cards are accepted. 

Wire Transfer services are provided by Column Bank N.A., Member FDIC. All wires are subject to acceptance criteria and risk-based review and may be rejected at the sole discretion of Column Bank N. A. or Lili App Inc.
