How can we help?

How InstaSwitch helps you move your business banking to Lili?

Intro

Switching business banks is normally the hard part — chasing down every platform, payroll provider, and vendor that has your old account details. InstaSwitch does that work for you, right inside your Lili dashboard, at no extra cost. It reviews your recent account activity, builds a list of everything connected to your old account, and helps you update each one to Lili. Most switches take under 15 minutes.

You're always in control. InstaSwitch never moves your money and never closes your old account — you review each item, approve it, and transfer funds yourself.

How it works

1. Connect your old account

Choose either option:

  • Connect through Plaid to import up to 120 days of activity, or
  • Upload recent bank statements

You can connect multiple accounts across multiple banks.

2. Review your switch list

Lili builds a list of everything tied to your old account, organized into five categories:

CategoryExamples
Income platformsStripe, Shopify, PayPal, Amazon
PayrollGusto, Rippling, ADP, Justworks
Bills & subscriptionsGoogle Workspace, AWS, Slack, insurance
VendorsSuppliers, agencies, landlords, contractors
CustomersClients who pay you using your account details

Remove anything you don't need, and use the search bar in each category to add anything the review missed.

3. Complete your switches

Each item is either automated or guided:

  • Automated — a Chrome extension updates your banking details after you sign in to the third-party tool yourself. Usually about 30 seconds.
  • Guided — step-by-step instructions you follow directly in the tool. No extension needed.

Lili currently supports 30+ automations and 350+ guided updates. If an automation doesn't complete, the guided version appears automatically so you can finish right away.

Switch items one at a time and come back whenever you're ready — your progress is saved.

Funding your Lili account

Lili recommends how much to move based on your transaction history. The goal is to leave roughly one month of payroll and spending in your old account while the remaining switches finish. If the recommended amount is $2,000 or less, we suggest moving the full balance.

  • Adjust the suggested amount at any time
  • Transfer limits are set by your financial institutions and platforms
  • Keep your old account open until you're confident everything has moved

Notifying your customers and vendors

Customers. Choose which customers to notify and provide their email addresses. Each one receives a unique, secure link to your new Lili account details — your account and routing numbers are never included in the email itself.

Vendors. Vendors usually don't need to do anything. Update your payment activity once and start paying them from Lili.

Importing your lists. Connect QuickBooks, upload a CSV, or add customers and vendors manually.

International vendors. This flow currently collects U.S. routing and account numbers only. Vendors that require SWIFT, BIC, or IBAN details should be added directly in Lili.

Frequently asked questions

Does this move my money for me?
No. You always move your own funds. Lili provides a recommended amount and instructions.

Does it close my old bank account?
No. You decide when to close or wind down your old account.

Does Lili store my bank or software passwords?
No. Your old bank credentials are handled through Plaid, and you sign in to third-party tools yourself during automated switches. Lili does not store those credentials and never asks for your Lili password during this process.

Something is missing from my switch list. What now?
The list is built from your last 120 days of activity, so older or inactive services may not appear. Use the search bar in the relevant category to add them manually.

Plaid isn't connecting. What are my options?
Upload recent bank statements instead, or build your switch list manually.

Do I need admin access to the tools I'm switching?
Usually, yes — changing banking details is typically an owner or admin function. Payroll providers are a common exception where a limited user role can block the automation; use the guided flow instead.

An automation didn't complete. Why?
A guided update appears automatically so you can finish. Common causes: the tool changed its website, you don't have the required permissions, the account isn't fully set up, or your Lili details are already saved there.

Why does payroll still show as incomplete?
Some payroll providers verify a new account with micro-deposits, which can take 1–2 days. Your part may already be done — the status is waiting on the provider.

Data and security

This tool collects only what's needed to complete your switches.

  • Bank credentials are never stored
  • Account and routing numbers are held in a dedicated encrypted vault
  • Raw transaction data is used to identify what needs switching, then discarded — only a limited activity summary is retained
  • Your data is never used to train AI or machine learning models
  • Your data is never sold, rented, or used for advertising or marketing
  • Data is encrypted in transit and at rest
  • This process has completed a SOC 2 Type II audit
  • Sensitive data is purged within approximately 120 days, or when you disconnect an account

Does an AI model see my account or routing number?
No. Those numbers stay in a dedicated vault, and entering them is handled by deterministic code — not an AI model.
