How can we help?

How do I add a receipt to my transaction?

Attaching receipts to your transactions keeps your books accurate, supports tax deductions, and gives you a clear paper trail when you or your accountant review your finances. You can add receipts from both the Lili mobile app and the Lili web app, so your records stay organized wherever you work.

Add a receipt from the Lili mobile app

Use this flow to attach a receipt to an existing transaction on iOS or Android.

  1. Open the Lili app and go to Transactions from the main menu.
  2. Find and tap the transaction you want to update.
  3. Tap Attach a receipt.
  4. Choose how you want to add the receipt:
    • Take a photo with your camera
    • Select an image from your photo library or files on your device
  5. Confirm the image looks clear, then save.

Once attached, the receipt is stored with that transaction and can be viewed anytime from the transaction details in the app

Add a receipt from the Lili web app

You can also attach receipts from the Lili web app when you’re working from your desktop or laptop.

  1. Sign in to your Lili account from a web browser.
  2. Go to the Transactions section.
  3. Click the transaction you want to update to open the details.
  4. Select Attach a receipt.
  5. Upload your receipt from your computer (for example, a saved image or scanned file).
  6. Confirm the file is correct, then save your changes.

The receipt will remain linked to that transaction across both web and mobile, so everyone reviewing your books sees the same documentation.

What kinds of receipts can I attach?

For best results, use clear digital copies of your receipts.

  • Accepted sources: photos from your camera, existing photos in your gallery, or files saved on your device or computer.
  • Allowed file types: PDFPNG, and JPG/JPEG.

If the app or browser asks for access to your camera, photos, or files, select Allow so Lili can upload the receipt from your device

Where will my receipts appear?

Every receipt you attach stays linked to its specific transaction. When you or your accountant review your activity or exports, those transactions will already have the receipt stored alongside the amount, date, merchant, and category information.

This helps you:

  • Document business expenses for tax and audit purposes
  • Give other business owners and accountants the context they need
  • Keep your records complete without tracking paper copies separately

Attaching receipts is strongly recommended for higher-value and tax-deductible expenses so you’re prepared for tax season and potential audits.
